There are many sources on the internet to help you understand the space you need for a particular size table. There are some things to consider like the length of your pool cue, and other obstacles.

You want to be sure you are using the measurement of the PLAY SURFACE of your table when you are considering room size. Some rails are wider than others but you don’t place your cue based on the rail, just the play surface.

The length of your pool cue also helps determine the room you need. Standard cue length is 58”. Due to room size restrictions it’s easy to go to a 52” cue without noticing the difference because the length is in the back end of the cue.
