Rail Rubber

Rail Rubber is one of the most important parts to a table and the most overlooked when wanting work done. Rail rubber gets worn over time which will wear out your cloth prematurely and the table will not play well.

A common issue is hard rubber caused from age or environment. A not so common issue is the rubber goes spongey.

Your rail rubber can come loose from the rail (caused by improper installation or sitting on the rails). This can cause the ball to “hop”.

High quality rubber can last 25 years or more, while lower quality may only last 10 years.

We use high quality rubber and adhesives to ensure the job is done right. For rail rubber replacement to be done correctly it has to be done in the shop due to the mess and the glue cure times. The process starts by removing the old rubber and glue from the rails, and patching any damaged wood. We glue the new rubber on, which requires some cure time. We then cut pocket angles, and install new facings. Rails will then be recovered and can be installed on the table. This usually takes around 2 weeks to complete from pickup to install.

* New rubber will require new cloth, at least on the rails.
